PowerZip 5.2
Looking for an archiving tool with that little
bit extra?
Before you run PowerZip for the first time you
need to register it. Log on to the Net and go to www.powerzip.net/PCAnswers/register.asp
and fill in the details. Your product code will be emailed to
you and you'll be able to enter your details and start using
the program.
PowerZip features all of the tools you'd expect
to find in a powerful Zip utility: drag and drop to and from
the main window for fast compression and decompression, different
levels of compression, disk spanning and the ability to create
self-extracting archives represent just a small selection. It
also works in a similar way to other Zip tools, so transferring
from one to the other isn't as traumatic as it might be.
But it has some useful features not normally found
elsewhere. You can elect to add wildcards so PowerZip will then
search through a specific location and add only the files matching
those wildcards to its list. Similarly, when you choose the
Actions, Extract option (see step two of the walkthrough) you
have much more control over what's extracted and where it goes
to than in similar packages.
You can even password-protect certain parts of
an archive so only sensitive files are protected from prying
eyes. If you choose this latter option you'll be prompted for
a password whenever you extract a single file from the archive,
but unless that file is password protected you won't need to
supply one - just click OK.
Upgrade and save!
If you've found PowerZip 5.2 useful you'll no doubt be interested
in taking a closer look at the current version, PowerZip 6.0.
You'll find a demo on the disc, and you can upgrade for just
US$10, a saving of 50 per cent on the usual price. New features
include an improved interface, ability to support macros and
a host of other tweaks. Find out more at
www.powerzip.net/whatsnew.htm .
To order, go to www.powerzip.net/PCAnswers/upgrade.asp
- you'll need a credit card to order, and once your order is
completed you'll be emailed a key that unlocks the demo of PowerZip
6.0.
